What Are Veg Momos?

- 2 cups all-purpose flour (maida)
- 1/2 tsp salt

- 1 cup finely chopped cabbage

- 1/4 cup finely chopped capsicum
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2-3 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1/2 tsp grated ginger
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp oil
For Momos Chutney:
- 2 medium tomatoes
- 4-5 dry red chilies
- 2 garlic cloves
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 tsp vinegar
Step-by-Step Instructions -
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
1. In a mixing bowl, add all-purpose flour and salt.
2. Gradually add water and knead it into a smooth, soft dough.
3. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Step 2: Make the Filling
1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté garlic and ginger until fragrant.
2. Add onions and cook until translucent.
3. Add cabbage, carrots, and capsicum. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
4. Add soy sauce, black pepper, and salt. Mix well and cook until vegetables are slightly tender but still crunchy.
5. Let the filling cool completely.
Step 3: Shape the Momos
1. Divide the dough into small balls and roll them into thin circles.
2. Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each circle.
3. Fold and pleat the edges to seal the momos. You can shape them as half-moons or round dumplings.
Step 4: Steam the Momos
1. Grease a steamer plate and place the momos on it, ensuring they don't touch each other.
2. Steam for 10-12 minutes or until the dough becomes slightly transparent.

1. Boil tomatoes and red chilies in water until soft.
2. Blend them with garlic, salt, and vinegar into a smooth paste.
